Planning is Key
As you plan ahead, consider bringing an electronic copy of your dog’s vaccination record, microchip number, and any licensing or tag information. Be sure to pack your dog’s essentials, including food, water, bowls, toys, treats, and medications. Ask your veterinarian about the need for dog shoes, depending on the time of year you travel and your travel plans, such as hiking.
Marana offers pet-friendly hotels and vacation rentals, so check the rental site and agreement or the hotel website to be sure dogs are welcome. One option is The Ritz-Carlton, Dove Mountain, which provides dog-friendly rooms and even has a special menu for pets.
Outdoor Adventure Awaits
Dog-friendly outdoor activities in Marana are plentiful. The Crossroads at Silverbell District Park is a popular dog park choice with walking trails and a designated dog park section where your dog can go off-leash to socialize with other dogs. The Tangerine Sky Community Park has two large areas and the Ora Mae Harn District Park in Downtown Marana has a wonderful dog park as well. The Ora Mae Park is also right across the street from our Marana Visitor Center, an official Arizona Visitor Center to help you plan your visit with us!
Marana also has several dog-friendly hiking trails, including the Wild Burro trail near the Ritz-Carlton at Dove Mountain. When you drive up to the gate, just let the guard know you plan to hike.
Several other dog-friendly hiking trails are also within a short drive of Marana. Remember to take extra water and a bowl for your dog. And be careful to keep your dog with you during the hike and remain aware of the various desert inhabitants that may startle your dog or lash out if your dog gets too close.

A note from our friends at Sol Dog Lodge: Not every dog will enjoy traveling, a dog park setting, or interacting with every other dog or person they meet. Be mindful of your dog’s unique personality and comfort level – there are many other ways to enrich your dog's life that they may find more fulfilling if the dog park isn’t a good fit for them. Dogs who are appropriate for dog parks are confident and optimistic 'social butterflies', who are also fair and tolerant. You know you have one if your dog greets new humans and dogs readily and comfortably, but not in an over-excited or frenzied fashion.
Traveling with a friend is always preferable, so your trip to Marana doesn’t mean you have to leave your four-legged companion at home. Marana welcomes your furry friend, and we want you and your pup to have the most memorable adventures possible while you’re here!
