Join a naturalist for a historical tour of Los Morteros Conservation Area. Los Morteros represents thousands of years of human history set among a picturesque natural environment. On this walking tour, we will explore aspects of American history, Spanish Colonial history, and Native American history, all interlaced with the natural history of the Santa Cruz River as well as two National Historic Trails.

Take a step back in time at this well-preserved Hohokam village site. Named after the mortar holes found in volcanic rocks throughout the site, Los Morteros is a well-preserved Hohokam village site. The mortar holes were used to grind mesquite pods, seeds, and corn.
